For ghostwriters

You wrote the book.
Why does someone else publish it?

Most ghostwriters hand the finished book to a hybrid publisher, which charges the client thousands more, and then they never hear how it did. With your own imprint, you offer the client the whole journey and keep the publishing fee.

The short version

Your own publishing company, under your own name. An AI agent does the production and the paperwork. You make the decisions and keep the profit.

Founding setup$500, not $1,500
The problem

The handoff costs you the fee and the client

Your client trusts you more than anyone else involved in the book. At the moment they need it published, they are sent to a stranger.

Hybrid publishers charge for exactly the work that is now automated: formatting, a cover, conversion, metadata and distribution.

Once the book is out, the next one often goes to whoever published the first.

The answer

What changes with your own imprint

  • You offer writing and publishing as one package, under your own press name.
  • Your agent handles proofreading, the cover, ebook and paperback formatting, metadata and distribution through your own store accounts. All of it is included in your plan.
  • Your client gets an author portal showing their book's progress, files and royalty statements.
  • AI-narrated audiobooks can follow on your own AuthorVoices account, distributed through your own InAudio account.
  • Your clients can subscribe to AuthorPass marketing from your website, and you earn 30% of every payment for as long as they stay.
An example

If a hybrid publisher would charge your client $3,000 to publish, you can charge less than that and still keep all of it, because the production is included in your plan. Your costs per book are the ISBN and an optional printed proof.

A good fit

Ghostwriters who finish several books a year and already advise clients on publishing.

Probably not for you

Ghostwriters whose contracts keep them invisible to readers and whose clients insist on a particular publisher.

Frequently asked

You do. The IngramSpark and KDP accounts are in your press's name, and store payments go to your bank. Author royalties are paid under your own contract with each client.

No. Your agent knows the formats, store rules and paperwork, and explains anything you want to understand.
